Freedom is a gift

Many are not as lucky in their freedom

Every Independence Day I consider how fortunate I am to live in a place where I have so many choices. I have brought my daughters up in a nation where their dreams can become their reality. My youngest is getting prepared to move away to her university in the fall and my husband and I are only slightly inconvenienced about paying the college tuition.

Imagine for a minute if you were born into a village where the highest level of education you are likely to complete is 3rd grade. Where your family may have no choice but to marry you off at the age of 13. If you manage to fight your way through your 12 years of education and staying single, you have to earn enough money now to pay for your college degree, because loans are not an option for you. These women are fighting for their freedom, and the freedom of women in their country, and the strong young women they will mother someday.

Selling Sseko means much more to me than just joining another direct sales company. Every purse, every sandal, every little charm is making a difference for a women in East Africa. Although Sseko’s beginnings focused on sending young women to university, they have expanded to include women who are supporting their families through honest, safe and well paid work. Women who, like Matilda, had no other choices to support her family following her husband’s death. Matilda had no other choice than to work in a rock quarry, because that was the only job available to her, until she found Sseko. She is now safe, being paid the equivalent of a U.S. teacher’s salary, with medical benefits at the local hospital and schooling for her children. She, alongside all of the other crafts women, are taking courses on business, life skills and how to make their communities stronger. Sseko is changing entire communities ... giving them the freedoms that we often times take for granted.

Summer in Seattle is pretty short, but the longer days and new flowers are drawing us all outside for gathering with friends and celebrating our warm season. I would love to introduce you to Sseko products and give your friends and family an opportunity to share your freedom with women around the globe.

Sseko is hosting a birthday celebration next week, which means there will be SALES! Big sales apparently ... and guess what? I have time on my hands for some last minute get-togethers! I’m staying in town next weekend, but also in town all week! How about planning an impromptu patio party with a few friends? Of course you earn free product along the way, but it feels even nicer to give a little when you’re getting a little. Right?

Give me a call at 206-228-2960 and let’s set a date for a Sseko Trunk Show. If you’re not in Seattle, how about an online one where I could appear by FaceTime? Anything is possible!!

Super busy in July? How about booking a Trunk Show in August, right after our Fall/Winter Season Launch on August 1st? Celebrate the coming of Fall with fun new bags, clothing and a whole new beautiful color palate.

Happy 4th of July my friends! Celebrate our freedoms and while you’re watching the fireworks tonight, give thanks for the many choices you are blessed to make. Hug your families, friends and toast to our country!

Cheers from my family to yours,

Gabby
